We're celebrating the arrival of the year 2026, and I'm delighted you're here with me through it all. Welcome!
I'm calling 2025 the year of the chicken blobs, and if you don't know what that means, grab a coffee because this gets messy.
Whether you live in a beautiful castle or a bedraggled hut, if you're lucky enough to have chickens in the yard, they happily leave little blobs behind as they peck and scratch their way through dirt and grass looking for juicy morsels. Fresh farm eggs are glorious bounty, and you know you're doing something right in life when your chickens are laying those big beautiful golden orbs. However, endless blobs where they ought not to be are the reality of golden eggs.
You might remember that my inspirational husband fell off the roof and broke his leg a few years back, leading to development of the 6K brand, our soap company, and our iconic farm store in the ensuing years. Well, last summer as we were exploring our fledgling freedom from the farm business with only four children in tow, Nick developed a terrible and rare syndrome that left him paralyzed in a Vancouver Area hospital bed half the summer and all of the autumn.
Somehow, between driving a new (to me) car back and forth across the province for months overseeing his care, (farm truck is too tall for the hospital parking lot), renovating one home in preparation for new occupants, acquiring a rental in the city and moving essentials so that we can be together as a family and have some consistency for parenting, the year was full of golden eggs and some pretty serious chicken blobs. I would not be writing this if it were not for the most caring people supporting us around every corner in every community involved.
I'm so thankful for everyone, truly humbled by your kindness and generosity, and hopeful to be onward and upward. Nick continues to recover close to the hospital that treats his condition and I can't help but think that everything is going just as it was meant to, blobs and all. We are going to continue growing as a family and in our business, focusing on our goals with your help and support!
Keep an eye out for new products, updated packaging, wholesale and custom order opportunities with competitive price points for aligned brands, and by the grace of God, maybe a second 6K location serving the Vancouver Area?
Wherever you are in life, in the trenches or up on the mountaintops, keep your eyes upward in thankfulness. Spring is around the corner, things are looking up, and if life didn't have chicken blobs we wouldn't have eggs, either.
Blessings to you on all your trails!
